Step away from the traditional tourist areas with this trekking excursion.  You'll discover the wild beauty of a fairly unknown Andean valley, its river Las Tragedias and the multiple high-Andean lakes that dominate its watershed. This tour is best for nature lovers, who want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and fresh mountain air, and to admire the spectacular scenery of wild Andean landscapes.

We leave the village in the morning and drive 2 hours by car, following the beautiful Ñuble river and entering the mountain range towards the Argentina border.  Then we follow the El Sauce river until we reach Pichirincón, the last houses of the valley where the mules that will carry our food and camping material will be waiting for us. This is the beginning of a great adventure; we start walking following in the footsteps of the “arrieros” (local shepherds) between the colorful and arid Andes Mountains, enjoying the beautiful views on crystal clear rivers and waterfalls, wild and majestic scenery, discovering the native flora and fauna. We'll trek along the river las Tragedias and for the first night we camp close to a beautiful waterfall and a canyon where we can have a bath in the river pools before eating a local roasted goat for diner. The next day we walk up to the Fuentecillas lake, where we set up camp for two nights. The third day we'll explore the valley of the Three Lakes and/or the valley of the Baul Lakes. The final day, we'll climb to a mountain pass from which we can admire the volcanoes of the area, and then go down to return to Pichirincón.
