Day 1: Ljubljana - Bled – Bohinj – Bovec

Start with Lake Bled, one of the most beautiful and well-known places in Slovenia. Take a traditional Pletna boat to Bled Island and her church where visitors can ring the ‘wishing bell.’ Then it’s up 130 meters to 1,000-year-old Bled Castle for breathtaking views of the lake and surroundings, as well as a museum, a chapel and a wine cellar where you can seal your own bottle of Slovenian wine. Then take in a beautiful panorama of the Alps and Mt. Triglav, Slovena's highest mountain and its national symbol. After a lunch break we take a winding drive through villages and woodlands to Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest lake and the jewel of Triglav National Park. In the afternoon hike the Sava Dolinka, one of the two sources of the Sava River. Drive up the ‘Road of a Thousand Views’ and over Vršič Pass at 1600 meters high. Then we descend into the rich wilderness of the Trenta Valley, ending our day in the small town of Bovec, home to 1700 people, 2 Gothic churches and charming town center.

Day 2: Tolmin – Škocijan Cave – Slovenian Coast

Today we drive to the amazing Škocjan Caves, which have been designated by UNESCO as both Cultural and Natural World Heritage treasures. The temperature in the caves is normally12°C/54°F in drier areas and as low as 0°C/32°F near the flowing river waters – have your jacket or sweater on hand! Along the 3-kilometer underground path see amazing stalagmites, stalactites and some incredible karst formations in caverns that make up one of the world’s largest known underground chambers and a walk across a foot bridge 47 meters above the mystical Reka River. After a walk back outside past the karst formation gardens we head to the world-famous Lipica Stud Farm where we’ll break for lunch.  After lunch is a guided tour where we’ll learn about these famous, elegant and lucky Lipizzaner horses. Spend a little time in the informative and interactive Lipikun Museum to round out your educational experience. Our day ends down the road, at Slovenian Coast.

Day 3: Day trip to Venice

We take the day to visit one of the most enchanting cities in the world – Venice!  We'll board a boat and glide across the sparkling blue Adriatic, all the way to St. Mark’s Square.  You’ll have a one-hour professionally guided tour as well as the chance to explore the city on your own. Cross the world-famous Rialto Bridge. Go for a romantic gondola ride through the maze of canals, where you’ll see a picture-perfect view no matter where you look.

Day 4: Slovenian Coast - Ljubljana

After breakfast you’ll have a bit of time to grab that perfect souvenir for yourself or a loved one. As midday approaches we say good-bye to Izola and Piran, but we’ve saved our personal favorite place for last – our own beloved, beautiful Ljubljana. We’ll enjoy a relaxed two-hour guided tour of the best of Slovenia’s capital, followed by a friendly, informal farewell dinner.
