Theme: Art, Walking
This three hour walking tour will introduce you to Valparaiso, Chile's popular coastal city. We'll meet at the starting point, the Plaza Sotomayor, in front the large monument.. and start your exploration of a city that is still reinventing itself after 300 years. The “jewel of the pacific” offers incredible views, quaint alleyways and some of the best street art in the world. Valparaiso is built on a sort of "natural amphitheatre" consisting of 45 seaside hills which areconnected by a maze-like system of side-streets, endless stairways and incline elevators.
As a UNESCO World Heritage site, its crumbling palaces are being transformed into shops, hotels, art galleries, 5-star restaurants and wild nightclubs.Climb the graffiti lined stairwells and meet local residents “porteños,” to see the Golden Era of the city and how we keep the bohemian, multicultural, and colorful tradition alive.
Along the way we'll give you ample recommendations of Bars, Restaurants and Activities to spend the rest of your time in Valparaiso like a local!
Chile’s Nobel Laureate and lover of Valparaiso, Pablo Neruda wrote that if we walked all of Valparaiso’s stairs, we would make a trip around the world. We believe that Valparaiso cannot just be understood from behind the window of a van or bus, so come walk Valparaiso with me.
