Arrive in

      Anciently,  the products of  skilled Fergana craftsmen were sent through towns of Fergana valley through mountainous passes to Eastern Turkestan (Kashgaria), and then to the inner China. By ancient caravan routes, through the markets of Maveranahr to the Western Europe were sent silk, silver, cattle and animal products, also fur, large felt mat and other products of handicrafts. Except sending products through the Great Silk Route the craftsmen made various handicrafts for the city dwellers, brought them to the bazaar for incoming merchants. The handicrafts entities making the products for home usage had the prominence in the town bazaars.

      The nomads were more worried for their felt home – yurt and its warm finery. The stern mountainous climate and also seasonal migration exactly promoted creating warm and comfortable home. And felt became the main material for external finishing of the yurt (insulation), and also the internal finish (carpets, shiirdaks and alakiyizs).

      The current tour will acquaint you with the art of the Kyrgyz and Uzbek craftsmen of Fergana valley. The skillful products of the masters will not leave anyone indifferent! The secrets of various semantic patterns of the products will surprise even skeptics.

D – 01 Osh (Kyrgyzstan)

Meeting in the airport.

Hotel transfer.

   Excursion to Osh bazaar – the most ancient and very cheap bazaar in Kyrgyzstan. Exactly here the craftsmen had made various products of handicrafts, and carried them out for incoming merchants. 

   Visiting the home of the master who makes special clay ovens, tandyrs in which national patties, samsy and prominent eastern bread are baked.

   Visiting the home of the master who makes eastern cradle – beshik. You will get to know not only the technology of making cradle, but also the technology of putting the child into that cradle – beshik. Also you will get to hear the interesting and enthralling story of customs, that is connected to child’s cradle. 

   Walking by foot to smithy’s, to the masters of producing national knives. You will witness not only the enthralling process of making knives, but also you can purchase a knife for the good memories.

   Visiting two art galleries  in Osh city, showing the daily life and the material art of the Kyrgyz nation.

D-02Osh -Gulcha-Bear’s Paw

Visiting Bear’s Paw village.

Visiting village Gulcha on the way, visiting the museum of Kurmanjan Datka – the most prominent political person of the South Kyrgyzstan in the end of 19th – beginning of the 20th century.  

 On Fridays and Saturdays – visiting cattle market, an amazing sight.

     Coming to Bear’s Paw village.

     Walking around the village. Lodging. 

Д-03 Bear’s paw – Kyrkool– Dorout-Kurgan

   Visiting craftsmen. The residents of this village, who are far away from urbanization and the negative impact of megalopolis, are engaged to favorite work: collecting yurts, making pattern felt carpets, weaving jewelry in the shape of Kyrgyz ornaments, engaged in nomadic cattle lifestyle.     

The homes of local residents are furnished with chest and tushaks, which keep not only the traditional character, but also the secrets of keeping them.

     Visiting Kyrkool village, the home of the master who processes felt. Here you will get acquainted with the technology of felt processing and creation of the national Kyrgyz carpets such as: shiirdaks and alakiyizs.

Also you will have an opportunity to create your own unique pattern and to make a small carpet from felt.

D-04 Dorout-Kurgan

   Sighstseeing tour  in Doruot – Kurgan village by visiting:

Kokan khan fortress 19th century;

Craft workshop in manufacturing  pile woolen carpets;

Walking in picturesque canyon Dara;

D- 05 Dorout-Kurgan – Andijan (Uzbekistan)

   Deaprture to Andijan city.

D-06 Andijan-Kuva - Fergana

   Excursion in Andijan city by visiting:

Andijan bazaar;

The street of craftsmen;

The Zahriddin Muhammed Baburmuseum – the ruler of Samarkand, Andijan and Osh in 15th century.

Departure to Fergana city. On the way to Fergana a quick stop to Kuva – the the glass producing center of medieval time.

D-07 Fergana

Sightseeing excursion in Fergana by visiting:

The museum of local lore.

D-08 Fergana-Margilan-Rishtan-Fergana

Breakfast, Deaprture to Margilan (10 km), excursion in Margilan:

Visiting bazaar, visiting the home of the master who produces silk, the home of master who produces tubeteis for Fergana women, the master-home of jeweler, the master-home of calico-printer.                           

Deaprture to Rishtan  (45 km), visiting the master-home of Rustam – the  ceramic producing master. Lunch at ceramists’.

After luch, visiting Alisher Nazirov’s and Sharafutdin Yuspov’s workshop, and also Hodji Ilgor’s mosque.

      Coming back to Fergana.

D-09 Fergana  – Kokand

Departure to Kokand  (90 km), excursion in Kokand :

Visiting the architecture complex Urda Hudoyarhan (1870 y.),

Modarihan mausoleum (1825 y.),«Dahma-i-Jahon» mausoleum (1825y.).*

Visiting the Kokand  R.haidarov’s school of wood carving.

Placement in the Нotel. Lodging.

D-10 Kokand  – Ahsikent – Namangan – Chust  – Tashkent

        Departure to Tashkent with the stops in Ahsikent (Ahsu) – visiting the most fortified fortress of medieval time in the coast of Syrdarya, in Namangan (3 monuments of XVIII-XX  centuries), in Chust (the most ancient agricultural settlement in the territory of Frgana valley in the age of bronze) visiting the workshop of masters in producing  men’s tyubetei and traditional national knives.

The lunch might be in the unique park, where is a cascade of springs, in which tiered teahouse is located.

Departure to Tashkent through Kamchik pass.

Arriving to Tashkent, placement in the Hotel, lodging.

D-11 Tashkent

         Excursion to the monuments with the guide: sightseeing excursion to “Shahid” memorial complex, the memorial of courage, the Hazrat Imam square, Kafal Shoshi mausoleum, Barak Khan madrasah. The visit to the prominent school of ceramists in the name of  Rahimovs, the museum of Applied Arts, the Abdula Kasym madrasah (the center of craftsmanship).
