-- Itinerary --
In the morning, the road will take us up to Smederevo, on the Danube, where we will visit the largest in Europe lowland fortress! Built in 1427 by the Serbian ruler George Brankovic, it had been extended by those who once occupied it. Then, we shall find the spectacular silhouette of the castle of Golubac that ensures entry to the gorges of the Danube. After a journey along the river, we will stop at Lepenski Vir, on a river terrace which had housed people 7,000 years ago. It is still a perfectly organized prehistoric settlement. There, we will attend a projection recounting these exceptional archaeological discoveries. In the afternoon, the journey will reveal the stunning gorges of the Danube (Iron Gates) shared between Serbia and Romania. We will follow the famous Via militaris the emperor Trajan solidified to prepare the invasion of Dacia. At the exit of the gorge, there are enthusiastically made rock sculptures to capture the king's face Dacian Décébale - grandiloquent work undertaken between 1994-2004. We will resume the road to regain Belgrade later in the day.
