We will explore the historic area of Rio on foot, beginning with Cinelândia, the most eclectic part of Rio constructed between 1902-1910 in an effort to promote the sanitation and consequently modernization of the area. There we will see the majestic Municipal Theatre, The Pedro Ernesto palace, The National Museum of Fine Arts, and more.
Then we continue on to Lapa, the bohemian neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. You'll see the Lapa Aqueduct constructed at the 18th century to transport water into town. We will also see the Selarón Stairs built by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón, who built it as a tribute to the Brazilian people.
Taking these stairs, we will reach Santa Tereza, the bucolic area of Rio de Janeiro were we will be able to see unusual spots like the Parque das Ruinas and the Carmelitas convent dating back to 1750.
