Description

Meet up at the tourist information office at Prostneset, and from there we will walk first stop at the world's northernmost brewery. On the way your guide will share with you the historical significance of the location of the world's northernmost Protestant church, and give a brief overview about how its history is connected to that of the Mack brewery and Tromsø's oldest pub, Ølhallen.

Ølhallen serves the largest selection of Mack beer, as well as over 50 different craft beers from Norwegian microbreweries – all on tap! Their draught system is the largest in Europe. While visiting the site, we will taste some of Mack's most popular products, including a northern light beer, an imperial pale lager and a dark lager, which has been continuously brewed since 1878, making it Mack's oldest still existing product - a true taste of history.

Afterwards we will visit Kjeller 5, one of the brewery's old storage cellars that has now been converted into Tromsø's only speciality shop for brewing ingredients and beer – a great place to purchase gifts and souvenirs!

From there, we will walk along the entire length of Tromsø's bustling main street where we'll see some of the most important sights of the city, like the world's northernmost Catholic and Protestant churches, a number of statues, traditional wooden homes, and another local microbrewery.

The final stop of our tour will be at a traditional local pub, whose atmosphere reflects the maritime history of our city. There we are going to taste more products from Arctic craft breweries, along with a selection of Arctic tapas, notably reindeer carpaccio and cold-smoked salmon. Our tour finishes here after the tasting, and you may either opt to stay on your own and have dinner – and/or full-sized beers – at this local restaurant, or you may request to have your guide accompany you elsewhere.
