Explore the Roman-Byzantine-Umayyad Amman in 1 day by visiting the Citadel of Amman overlooking the Roman theatre. Both the Temple of Hercules and the Roman theater are 1800 years old and accessible for visitors. Saving best for last is to walk through the old city center with buildings dating back to the 1940s which are associated with Amman the capital of the independent Jordanian Kingdom since 1946. Visiting the Dead Sea Scrolls and a short tour of the Jordan museum is like the 'La Cerise sur le gâteau'. For special requests, only, it is possible to visit the nearby Iraq Al Amir; a Hellenistic palace decorated with carved lions, eagles, cubs in the stone.
