Description

In this Denmark's oldest town, you'll experience the excitement when going down the small, medieval cobbled streets. This village was the setting of a many tales from Danish history; eg the one about princess Dagmar who left Bohemia to wed the Danish king, the tale of the final witch being burned in 1641, the tale of the vikings having their trading post beside the river and the story of the many floods in the low plains of the Wadden Sea.

The stunning romanesque cathedral of Ribe looks out on to the medieval town and contains two tombs of Danish kings as well as the pictures and mosaics by the well known artists, Carl Henning Pedersen in the 80s. In the tour we ravelling up the tower; from the top you can get a stunning look across the town and the marshlands around it. 

We visit the museum; Ribes vikinger, telling the story about the town in the viking age and the middle ages.
